ROUTE 50 GUIDELINES

Completing these challenges is a huge accomplishment - one that should be fair for all competitors.

We have compiled a few rules to ensure the races you select will qualify as official finishes and count towards your challenge.

What qualifies as an official race?

A race that qualifies for ROUTE 50 must:

  1. Have a race director
  2. Be advertised publicly and open to anyone
  3. Have a measured distance
  4. Have a start and finish line
  5. Have a minimum of 15 finishers
  6. Have a method for timing competitors
  7. Publish official race results online

What doesn't qualify as an official race?

The following types of races do not qualify for ROUTE 50:

  1. Virtual races
  2. Relay races
  3. Self-timed events
  4. Stage races with interrupted segments

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is there a time limit for completing a challenge?

Heck no! We want you to enjoy the journey and take as much time as you need.

Is there a minimum number of completed states required to join?

 Nope!

How many states or races can I count before I joined the club?

We'll accept a maximum of 20 verifiable races within the last 10 years.

Do virtual races count?

Nope. That would spoil all the fun of travelling!

Can I count the distance even if I didn't finish?

No. A DNF or disqualification does not count.

I used my friend's bib. Does my time count?

Not a chance. We don't condone using bibs that aren't yours - no exceptions.

My race got shortened due to weather (insert other reason here). Does it still count?

No. If you registered to run 15 miles, but the course was shortened to 13 miles, the race will not count.

The race course was split between more than one state. Which state do I count it for?

You must use the state where the start and finish line is. If they are different, you may choose which state you'd like to count.

The race course was split between more than one state. Can I count both states?

Nope. One race, one state.
