ABOUT OUR FOUNDER - HEATHER

I'm a runner and an avid traveller...and I have a whole heap of fun doing both together! Newsflash: I'm also loudly and proudly Canadian!

In 2011, I saw an ad for a half marathon while on a business trip in Nova Scotia. At the time, I couldn't even run 5K, let alone 21.1km. Five months later, I completed my first half marathon in Halifax and five months after that I ran my second half in Detroit. That ignited a desire to run a half marathon in every state and province. 

It's been one epic adventure that's taken me to every corner of the United States. With that goal complete, I was asked what I'm going to do next... 

And that's where the idea for Route 50 and our sister club Trail 50, the fifty states trail running club, was born.

Why? Because I'm going to do it all over again - on the diverse roads and on the beautiful trails that snake across America. 

But, not everyone wants to run a half marathon. That's where this club is different: I wanted a club that has a challenge for EVERYONE. Whether that's marathons or 5Ks, I wanted to create a community that embraces runners and walkers in ALL distances.

 With over 100 half marathon finishes, I've met some amazing people along the way. I can't wait to meet more fun people who share the same addiction. 

The only question now is: Are you ready for fifty states, fifty road races, and one awesome adventure?
